ABACBS 2022 incorporating COMBINE, VCBS, SBEI and Bioc Asia

 November 28, 2022 - December 2, 2022

Monash College City Campus & RMIT

Bioinformatics and Computational Biology are disciplines central to modern biological research. This field has experienced a rapid expansion in the last five years. The Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society (ABACBS) was founded in 2014 and represents over 1100 bioinformaticians and computational biologists from across Australia. Our members are a mix of students, academics, researchers, and professionals. The annual conference is one of the highlights for the society and scientific community each year, giving attendees an opportunity to engage with the best computational research developed in the society.

About our conference

The ABACBS national annual conference was first held in Sydney in 2015. It has since been held annually in different major Australian cities - Brisbane (2016), Adelaide (2017), Melbourne (2018), Sydney (2019), virtual 2020, and Tasmania (2021, hybrid).

Following the success of the 2021 hybrid conference with over 450 delegates, the 2022 ABACBS conference will be officially hosted as a hybrid event, with preference towards in-person, in Melbourne at Monash University College, Docklands and RMIT University City Campus. The conference organising committee is working hard towards making the event accessible, being hybrid, and looking into childcare options for delegates intending to participate in-person. The conference will feature plenary sessions from international and national keynote speakers, and talks selected from full-length papers or abstracts, poster sessions, workshops, and ample in person and online networking opportunities.

As always, the conference will also host a series of satellite events, including a virtual Student Symposium run by COMBINE (Australian Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Student Society), the Victorian Cancer Bioinformatics Symposium (VCBS) and BioC Asia. These events will be held between November 28th to December 2nd and will consist of live conference talks, as well as interactive poster sessions and networking opportunities in person and on a virtual meeting platform.
